The board of directors of Intesa Sanpaolo, chaired by Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, has adopted, on the proposal of the managing director and CEO Carlo Messina, a new organization based on the “strengths that have made the bank a European leader and on the ability to innovate the group structure”. The new organisation, effective from 2 April, is aimed at addressing the challenges of the sector in Europe with the best new managerial talents and enhancing internal resources, in a long-term perspective.

The new organization “combines young people in key roles and managers with solid experience behind them”, says Messina.

The changes adopted have as a qualifying element the generational transition of new talents into key positions, guided and supported by highly experienced people who have held roles of high responsibility in the group for a long time. The new and young figures in strategic positions – explains Intesa Sanpaolo – will thus be able to face future challenges, drawing on the experience already gained in recent years, including the two years of the current Business Plan.
The average age of those who take on new positions of top management responsibility is 49 years old, five of whom are in their forties. The program that has been in place for several years to enhance female talent is a step of particular significance
